Warsaw Ladies Post Track Wins
MISHAWAKA – The Warsaw girls track team aced its first test of the outdoor season Wednesday.
The Tigers opened action on a chilly day by beating host Penn and South Bend Washington in a triangular contested at Penn High School.
Coach Scott Erba’s talented team scored 84 points. Penn finished with 71 and the Panthers 12.
The 1-2 punch of Sam Alexander and Allison Miller led the way for the winners.
Junior Alexander captured first-place finishes in the 200 meter dash and the long jump events. Alexander also teamed with Audrey Rich, Mariah Harter and Abbi Curtis to place first in the 4 X 100 relay for the Tigers.
Sophomore Miller won both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs for Warsaw.
Rich took first in the 100 meter dash for the Tigers and Nicole Eckert hit the finish line in winning fashion in the 300 hurdles. Megan Chauncey won the discus competition and newcomer Jazzmine Brown won the high jump event for Warsaw.
The Tigers also captured a win in the 4 X 400 relay race with the team of Eckert, Brown, Rich and Tennie Worrell being victorious.
Warsaw’s home meet scheduled for Friday versus Bremen and Kokomo has been cancelled due to the weather forecast. The Tigers are scheduled to return to action next Tuesday at home versus East Noble at 5 p.m.
