Lorraine Eloise Ver Hage
Lorraine Eloise Ver Hage, Winona Lake, was called home by the Lord at 4:56 p.m. March 26, 2015. She passed away at Grace Village Health Care of Winona Lake.
In addition to working as a Methodist church secretary for 10 years in Rockford, she was a dedicated volunteer in her lifetime, serving as a den mother, delivering meals-on-wheels for 20 years, on the Elk Rapids Chamber of Commerce in Michigan for 10 years and the Elk Rapids Food Pantry for 15 years.
She was an excellent bridge player, a member of several clubs, an avid golfer and bowler. Lorraine was also active in the Elk Rapids Garden Club, and the United Methodist Women in Williamsburg, Mich. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers (Al Kaline was her favorite), Detroit Lions and both the Michigan State and Purdue University teams.
She will be missed greatly by her loving husband and family. Lorraine was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved each one immensely and put each ahead of herself.
She was born Feb. 15, 1927, in Muskegon, Mich., to Grover Cleveland Bush and Lilie Mae (Rasmussen) Bush. She married her high school sweetheart, Ned C. Ver Hage, on April 19, 1947. He survives in Winona Lake.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons: James E. (Susan) Ver Hage, Auburn; Larry D. (Lana) Ver Hage, Warsaw; Brian D. (Kathy) Ver Hage, Fort Mill, S.C.; seven grandchildren: Micah (Stephanie) Ver Hage, Winona Lake; Andrew Ver Hage, Columbus, Ohio; Sarah (Reginald) Overstreet, Lakewood, Wash.; Joshua (Melissa) Ver Hage, Grand Haven, Mich.; Jana (Brian) Carney, Royal Oak, Mich.; Chelsea and Corey Ver Hage, Fort Mill, S.C.; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother: Merlin E. Bush, Barboursville, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Janet Eileen Ver Hage; son: Michael Ver Hage; great-grandson: Ezra Ver Hage; and her daughter-in-law: Dianne Ver Hage.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday, April 3, at the Chapel at Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, and will be officiated by Chaplain Bryan Benjamin and Chaplain Bob Jarboe. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
