NWS Issues Special Weather Statement
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Kosciusko and surrounding counties in regard to scattered thunderstorms moving through the area.
According to the NWS, doppler radar has indicated showers and scattered thunderstorms along a line extending from Warsaw to 18 miles south of Grissom Airforce Base is moving east at 40 mph.
Pea sized hail and occasional cloud to ground lightening and brief heavy downpours are possible with these storms.
The NWS reports locations in the path of these storms include Wabash, North Manchester, Tri-Lakes, Columbia City, Marion, Huntington, Gas City, Fairmount, Garrett, Upland, Auburn and Fort Wayne. This reportedly includes Interstate 469 between mile markers 0 and 30 as well as Interstate 69 between mile markers 254 and 331.
The NWS advises to stay away from high objects outdoors such as trees and to seek shelter in a sturdy structure until these storms have past.
