Babcock Wins State Speech Meet
Former Warsaw resident Hannah Babcock won the Indiana High School Forensic Association State Speech meet in the category of impromptu on Saturday, March 28. The competition took place in Fishers.
Babcock is a junior at Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne and has participated on the speech team for three years.
Impromptu speaking requires contestants to give a five-minute speech after 30 seconds of preparation. Topics can be a word, quote or current event. On Saturday, Babcock competed in six rounds of competition, including three preliminary rounds, two semifinal rounds and a final round.
Additionally, Babcock has qualified to represent Northeast Indiana in Congressional Debate at the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Dallas from June 14-19.
She is the daughter of Kyle and Jayne Babcock.
Babcock attended Eisenhower Elementary School and Edgewood Middle School before moving to Fort Wayne to attend high school in 2012.
