The highlight of the week is from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, on Ancilla’s campus. The tentative schedule has the night kicking off with an open mic poetry reading at 4:30 p.m. This will be followed by dance demonstrations by the LifePlex Dance Academy at 5:30 p.m., and music performances at 6:15 p.m.
Refreshments will be available in the library as well as $1 drinks from The Coffee Lodge. Earthworks, Ancilla Admissions team, and Moontree Studios will all have displays in the library or front hall over the course of the week.
Additional Poetry Readings
Ancilla College will also host its first annual poetry read-a-thon on Wednesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 16, in the Ancilla College Gerald Ball Library as part of National Poetry Month. Members of the local community are invited to visit campus and share in the fun as listeners, readers, or both.
Participants will read poetry aloud from a wide variety of sources. Poetry readings will start at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m Wednesday, April 15, leading into the open mic event at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16. Anyone interested can sign up for a specific time slot by contacting Joel Thomas, humanities division chair, at [email protected] or (574) 936-8898 ext. 359, but scheduling is not required.
Books of poetry will be available for those wanting to read but unable to bring poetry with them.
The event is hosted by the Ancilla College Humanities Division, Library, and Student Government as part of the Ancilla College Arts & Culture Fair week.
