The North Webster Community Public Library will join with libraries across American to celebrate National Library Week from Sunday, April 12, until Saturday, April 18. The big event of the week will be the National Library Week celebration at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the North Webster Community Center banquet hall. The public is invited to a free evening of entertainment, refreshments and prizes.
Highlighting the evening will be guest speaker Sam Weller, nationally acclaimed journalist, professor, and authorized biographer of the late Ray Bradbury, one of the most celebrated authors of the 20th century. Ray Bradbury is best known for his futurist novel “Fahrenheit 451” which is the featured book in this year’s Community Big Read program sponsored by Kosciusko Literacy Services and the National Endowment for the Arts. Sam Weller will share his experience of knowing and writing about this cultural icon.
Also during the evening, two free tickets to Amish Acres’ Red Barn Theater will be awarded to the winner of the adult winter reading challenge, and winners of the Cemetery Walk Essay Contest will also be announced. Plus there will be plenty of chances to win door prizes along with delicious treats for everyone prepared by The Cake Lady.
