Reed, Warner Lead Way For Wildcats
CHURUBUSCO – The Whitko girls track team turned in an outstanding effort in its outdoor season debut Thursday night.
The Wildcats, led by the duo of Kaitlyn Reed and Elaine Warner, was second in the Whitley County Meet.
Columbia City totaled 67 points to just edge past the Wildcats, who had 65 points. Host Churubusco finished with 35 points.
Reed posted a trio of individual first-place finishes to lead the way. She won the 100, 200 and the high jump events. Reed also teamed with Warner, Abby Overmeyer and Reghan Craig to take top honors in the 4 X 100 relay race.
Senior star Warner won the long jump, an event that she was a State Finalist in a year ago. She also captured first place in the 300 hurdles.
Brigit Nemitz won the 1,600 and took second place in the 800. Michelle Kelsey won the pole vault competition.
The duo of Overmeyer (shot put) and Lyndsey Sapp (discus) each placed second in field events for the Wildcats.
