Hollar, Jensen Pace Warsaw Golf Squad
PERU – The duo of Jonny Hollar and Michael Jensen led the Warsaw boys golf team to a seventh-place finish Saturday in the Hall of Fame Invitational.
Hollar and Jensen each fired a round of 79 in the 18-team field in the season opener for the Tigers at Rock Hollow. Both Hollar and Jensen tied for 19th place among individuals in the field.
Coach Ben Barkey’s team shot a 324 for its seven-place finish. Center Grove won the tourney title with a team score of 292. Carmel was runner-up with a 3-3, followed by Zionsville (314), Crown Point (316) and Columbia City (318) to round out the top five teams. Among other area teams, Northridge tied for eighth place with a 326, Culver Academies was 16th with a 351 and Rochester 17th with a 374.
Ryan Cultice shot a round of 81 for the Tigers. Brandon Eckert came in with an 85 and Luke Johnson a 90 for Warsaw.
The Warsaw junior varsity team shot 365 Saturday to place second in the LaVille Invitational at Swan Lake.
Jacob LaLonde led the JV Tigers as each placed third individually with a round of 85. Sam Yeager was fourth with an 87 and Tim Rata ninth with a 93. Kole Komedeur shot a 100 and Tommy Meier a 101 for Warsaw.
Warsaw will face Northridge and Mishawaka Marian on Tuesday at the Elcona Golf Club.
