IEDC President To Meet With Area Leaders
Eric Doden, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, will be at the University of Notre Dame on Tuesday afternoon to meet with private business, philanthropic, academic and elected officials from the Regional Cities of Northern Indiana group to discuss how working together as a region is going to change Northern Indiana’s economy and boost population growth.
Doden will address elected officials and leaders from throughout the four-county region from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the University of Notre Dame’s McKenna Hall.
“Our group has been working together as a region since last November,” said Regina Emberton, who is president of the Michiana Partnership and principal spokesperson for Regional Cities of Northern Indiana. “We’re preparing to submit an application for the State of Indiana’s Regional Cities Initiative which is designed to facilitate bold economic development projects across a wide region that among other things, stimulate population growth.
“The IEDC is managing the Regional Cities Initiative on behalf of the state. We’ve already begun to identify a short list of projects that will help transform the economy of the entire four-county region. Eric’s presentation on Tuesday is timed perfectly for the Northern Indiana group. We’re looking forward to it.”
The exact amount of available state funding will be determined through the legislative process.
“It’s important to recognize that we benefit greatly by collaborating regionally to develop a bold vision for our future,” added Emberton. “Regional Cities of Northern Indiana is already providing a very strong portfolio of ready-to-execute projects that will move us toward that vision.”
Regional Cities of Northern Indiana serves every citizen and business organization of Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall and St. Joseph counties through a commitment to pursuing transformational economic development projects and strategic initiatives for the entire four-county region. In doing so, the group consists of and leverages the vast experience and services of Northern Indiana’s leading business, academic, philanthropic and government leaders.
