WCHS Band Presenting Showcase Concert
The Warsaw Community High School Band Department will present its annual “Showcase Concert” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the WCHS Performing Arts Center.
The WCHS Concert Band and WCHS Wind Ensemble will each perform a program that they’ve prepared for Indiana State School Music Association competitions in the coming weeks. Admission to the Showcase Concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
The WCHS Concert Band, under the direction of Emily Mikel, will perform “Urban Dances” by Erik Morales, “Loch Lomond” – a setting of “Loch Lomond” and “Danny Boy” by Frank Ticheli and “Tricycle” by Andrew Boysen Jr. The Wind Ensemble will perform “Gandalf” from the “Symphony No. 1 – Lord of the Rings” by Johann de Meij, “A Movement for Rosa” by Mark Camphouse – a piece honoring Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement – and “Ride” by Samuel Hazo. The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Mickey Ratliff.
The Concert Band will compete at ISSMA Organizational Contest at Elkhart Memorial High School on Saturday, April 25. The Wind Ensemble will participate in ISSMA State Qualifications at Chesterton High School on May 2. If qualified, the Wind Ensemble will advance to ISSMA State Finals on May 9.
