Elkhart Sheriff’s Department Host Community Meetings
By CAPT. JAMES L. BRADBERRY
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department
Sheriff Brad Rogers has announced that officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department will be meeting with residents in their townships during the last week of April in order to reconnect them with officers from the department. As part of the Sheriff’s crime reduction plan and community policing initiative, Sheriff Rogers wants to solve more crimes by giving citizens the opportunity to access and provide information to an officer assigned to their area.
Using social media tools such as Citizen Observer, Facebook, Twitter and e-mail in addition to community meetings, valuable information can be sent to residents concerning crimes and suspicious activity that is occurring in their neighborhoods and townships. Those who want to share information about suspicious activity or crimes occurring in their area are encouraged to interact with others on the department’s Facebook page as a means to relay information others. For sensitive information, residents can text alerts using Citizen Observer or access the department’s web page at www.elkhartcountysheriff.com to report activity on the anonymous tip line.
In addition to discussing these resources and recent events in each township, officers will also provide tips and information to help residents protect their homes and property from theft and burglary.
Beginning on Monday, April 27, and ending on Friday, May 1, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department will host ten separate township meetings throughout Elkhart County. Officers represented at these meetings are comprised of officers from both the detective Bureau and Patrol Divisions who are divided into separate teams to address issues in their assigned townships.
