Hunting For A Cure
Hunters of Coyotes for Charity from Kosciusko, Fulton, Marshall, Wabash, Miami Huntington, Cass, Grant, Howard and Carroll counties have harvested 410 coyotes this season.
The coyote pelts were prepared for auction by Larry Frank of Macy. All money raised is matched by the Square D Foundation through the Relay for Life Campaign and by a generous Miami County resident and donated to the American Cancer Society.
Bo Bodenheimer is a U.S. receiving agent for North American Fur Auction of Toronto, where the pelts were sent to be sold.
This is the 12th year for Coyotes for Charity, which started in 2004 with four hunters harvesting five coyotes. In 2015 more than 120 hunters harvested the 410 coyotes.
In those 12 years the hunters have harvested 2,002 coyotes and donated more than $45,220 to the American Cancer Society.
Thanks to all the landowners and farmers for the opportunity to hunt.
