The Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) announced today that Jonathan J. (Jon) Myers will join the organization as president effective May 11.

“We are thrilled to introduce Jon as the new president of the Whitley County EDC,” said board chairman Robin Wright, “We believe Jon brings the right combination of experience, knowhow, and passion to continue our economic development efforts”

Myers currently serves as Senior Counsel at Lincoln Financial Group in Fort Wayne. His previous experience includes serving as Northeast region director with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and managing partner of Myers Hockemeyer & McNagny law firm in Columbia City.

“Jon brings diverse experience working in large and small business settings, and working in economic development throughout Northeast Indiana,” said Whitley County commissioner George Schrumpf, “I am pleased that the EDC selected such a capable, outgoing community leader to continue our nearly 25-year track record of economic development success in Whitley County.”

Myers holds a Bachelors of Arts in Government & International Studies from the University of Notre Dame and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. His community involvement includes serving on the boards of directors of the Indiana State Library Foundation, Indiana Library and Historical Bureau, Peabody Public Library, and Passages, Inc.

“The EDC’s comprehensive economic development program includes community development and small business and entrepreneurship initiatives that are important to Columbia City,” said Columbia City mayor Ryan Daniel, “We look forward to continuing to partner with the EDC under Jon’s leadership on these initiatives, which are instrumental in making our community an attractive place to start or grow a business.”

Myers is a native of Richland Township in Whitley County and a graduate of Whitko High School. Jon and his wife Soultana live near Columbia City.
