Anheuser-Busch Apologizing For Slogan On Bud Light Bottles
Anheuser-Busch has been accused of promoting rape culture due to a slogan printed on some bottles of Bud Light beer.
A backlash over the words “The perfect beer for removing ‘no’ from your vocabulary for the night,” one of 140 different slogans printed on beer bottles, has been criticized extensively on social media. The Twitter hashtag #NotBuyingIt has been trending with images of the bottles.
The company has apologized and announced it will cease production of the message on all bottles.
According to Alexander Lambrecht, vice president of BudLight Anheuser-Busch, the company’s #UpForWhatever campaign was meant to inspire consumers to engage with the brand in a positive, light-hearted way.
“It’s clear that this particular message missed the mark, and we regret it,” stated Lambrecht. “We would never condone disrespectful or irresponsible behavior.”
