Garnett Rose Whitaker-Hollon
Garnett Rose Whitaker-Hollon, 63, of Claypool, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
On July 22, 1951, she was born in Lancer, Kentucky to Henry and Ival (Akers) Whitaker. She was united in marriage to James Hollon on Jan. 12, 2010 in Claypool, who survives.
Rose moved to Pierceton from Lancer, Kentucky in 1962. She worked for Explorer Van, Warsaw for 23 years as a fiberglass mold maker. She then worked for Carson’s Department Store, Warsaw until retiring in 2013.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Pierceton and Moose Lodge. She lived for Sundays, going to movies and shopping with her friends.
Rose is survived by her husband: James Hollon, Claypool; four sons: Charlie Shepherd, Atwood; Shawn Shepherd, Warsaw; Chad Shepherd, Indianapolis; and Rodney Shepherd, Claypool; two brothers: Bert Whitaker and friend Dorothy Murray, Waterloo; and Michael Whitaker, Warsaw; two sisters: Claudia Barton, Pierceton; and Arlene (Jim) Barton, Dowagiac, Michigan; and eleven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister: Linda Adams.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 4, McHatton-Sadler Funeral chapel, Pierceton with Pastor Carl Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Visitation hours will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015 in the Pierceton Funeral Chapel.
