The Y Celebrates Older Americans Month In May

During Older Americans Month, the Kosciusko Community YMCA encourages all adults 60 and older to develop behaviors that are crucial to healthy aging, including healthy eating, increasing physical activity and social interaction. Those 60 and older are welcome to come try the Y for free on Fridays in May. Each Friday there will be a special presentation and snacks for seniors.
At 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 1, a Parkview Health Dietitian with present “Healthy Meals for One.” At 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, Pill Box Pharmacy will be presenting “Generation Rx” on prescription drug safety. The Kosciusko Community Senior Services will be sharing what they offer at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 15. Starting at 2 p.m. Friday, May 22, Purdue Extension will be presenting a program on container gardening. Miller’s Merry Manor will present “Healthy Hearts” at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 29.
No need to register, walk-ins are welcome. In addition to these Friday presentations, the Y would like to encourage seniors to take part in Parkview Health’s free Check-up Day on May 21, call (260) 672-6500 for an appointment.
Any current Y member who attends all five of the presentations and brings a guest who is not currently a member at least once will win a Y t-shirt. There will also be a drawing for a free sixth month membership each Friday for the senior guests who are not yet members.
