No Initial Injuries When Car, Semi Collide
No injuries were reported at the scene of a vehicle vs. semi Wednesday evening at Lake City Highway and North Parker Street, Warsaw. The accident occurred at 7:22 p.m. However, the driver of the vehicle was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital following the accident. The injuries are unknown.
Warsaw Police report Brittany N. Sherman, 19, Country Club Drive, Warsaw, was stopped on Parker Street, at the intersection and noticed the car to her right make a right hand turn. She told police she figured it was time for her to go, not realizing the other vehicle was turning right on red. Sherman was driving a 2013 Chevrolet.
Sherman pulled out into the intersection when she saw a semitractor and trailer coming at her and it was too late. Morris F. Culp, 53, Laraway Drive, Riverview, Fla., was westbound on US 30 and saw Sherman’s vehicle enter the intersection. He told police he locked up the brakes and swerved to the right to avoid the collision.
Sherman’s vehicle struck the rear tires of his cab. The 2016 International semi, registered to Hirschbach Motor Lines, went down the embankment and into the ditch.
Sherman was cited for operating a vehicle while suspended.
Damage was estimated up to $100,000.
