The Warsaw community is filled to the brim with little Picassos, and their talent was recognized on Friday, May 1 at Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts. School-aged children from Warsaw had the opportunity to design a banner for one of Wagon Wheel’s upcoming summer shows, and the top three were then invited to an awards ceremony co-sponsored by Warsaw Rotary.
First place winners’ banners can be seen this summer hanging downtown.
Winners include (in order of place), Colette Blackburn and Melaina Hawblitzel from Washington Elementary; Jules Leininger, Lucas Williamson, and Anna Bazzoni from Jefferson Elementary; Daniela Islas, Addison Vining, and Lindy Hertel from Claypool Elementary; Mason Williamson and Gisel Juarez from Leesburg Elementary; Ashley Park, Celia Mangun, and Drake Blanton from Harrison Elementary; Taylon Chastain, Rahel Burelsman, and Morgan Howett from Eisenhower Elementary; Mason Warren, Claire Sprankle, and Grance Ganser from Lincoln Elementary; Reese Rowland, Hannah Metzger, and Delaney Silveus from Madison Elementary; Kayla Johnson and Hailey Locke (tied) and Rosa Roblero from Lakeview Middle School; Alyssa Madden, Maygen Bellamy, and Logan Pullen from Edgewood Middle School; and Jordan Fredericks, Malia Ross, and Antonio Medina from Warsaw Community High School. Winners and their families also got to enjoy frozen yogurt provided by Zoyo.
Wagon Wheel’s 60th summer season kicks off on June 3 with Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” and is followed by “West Side Story,” “Bye Bye Birdie,” “The Addams Family,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Little Women: The Musical,” and an encore production of “Avenue Q.” To purchase tickets, visit wagonwheelcenter.org or call (574) 267-8041.
