Jackson Signs With Titans
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior Rashaan Jackson has selected Indiana University–South Bend as home for the next four years, signing a Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Titans.
Jackson emerged as a tremendous threat both inside and on the perimeter these recent seasons for the Tigers. With outstanding athleticism and a soft touch, Jackson was a key force in the Tigers’ 18-5 performance this year that saw coach Doug Ogle’s Northern Lakes Conference championship squad pick up impressive wins against, not just the tough Northern Lakes Conference schedule, but also against some of the state’s top teams. Even in defeat Jackson was a force on the court, helping the Tigers challenge and battle the state’s top teams to the wire, including a one-point road loss to eventual Class 4-A state champion Homestead.
A four-year letterman, Jackson was one of the team leaders in field-goal percentage, shooting a tremendous 48.2 percent from the floor (79-164), and he was second on the team in scoring average with a 9.4 average. The senior was also among the team leaders in rebounds, pulling in 74 caroms on the season.
A scholar athlete that earned a tremendous 10.55 grade point average on a 12-point scale, Jackson was the named the Hamilton Heights Tournament MVP as a junior. Jackson is also a member of the Tiger track program, and in 2014 was a sectional champion and conference champion in the long jump, recording a mark of 21-9 in the sand. An Academic All-State Honorable mention pick, Jackson has continued his success in the long-jump this spring as a senior by capturing the Goshen Relays title and helping coach Matt Thacker’s team post an undefeated regular season.
In addition to the academic and athletic accolades heaped upon him, Jackson has taken advantage of his opportunities to enrich the lives of others and give back to others with his involvement and role in several clubs and organizations, assisting with the Animal Shelter, Feed My Starving Children, the WCHS Blitz, the Chinese Club, and the Octagon Club.
Jackson will compete for the Titans and coach Scott Cooper. IUSB is a member of the NAIA and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
