Run Set To Honor Randy Miner

BFF
In these days of social media gone wild the phrase BFF or best friends forever gets strewn about loosely. But do those who frequent its use actually understand what it means?
Randy Miner did!
A best friend is quick to acknowledge our complimentary attributes and overlook our shortcomings. They are encouraging, supportive, and always armed with kind words when we need them most.
Webster’s Dictionary defines a friend as someone who is attached to another by respect or affection, one who is not hostile, a buddy, chum, comrade, pal, advocate, apostle, supporter. That is exactly the way I would describe my best friend.
He was encouraging when i was discouraged. And when in doubt he gave me confidence. His kindness was infectious and he brought out the best in me. He was a bona fide BFF.
That is why I am on a mission to honor him and preserve a small part of his legacy by resurrecting an event he made so popular in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
On the afternoon of June 13, Etna Green will host the second annual Randy Miner Memorial Country Run 1 mile and 4 mile road race. There will be traditional handmade clock trophies awarded to the top three finishers in both events and trophies to the top finishers in each age group.
We will be giving away many door prizes including a Grand Prize 46 inch Emerson flat screen TV that will be given to a lucky participant following the awards ceremonies. Lake City Rock WRSW will be broadcasting live, followed by Kathouse Karaoke’s Dave Price, who will also sing the National Anthem. The Etna Green Museum will be having a Nelson’s Golden Glow Chicken fundraiser and there will be an Amish bake sale to benefit the school North of town.
