Elkhart
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident involving a county resident:
12:50 p.m. Monday, May 11, SR 15 at CR 40, one mile south of Goshen. Drivers: Theodore Brooks, 80, Milford, and Timothy Klaff, 53, Chesterton. Brooks complained of chest and right hand pain. A passenger in Brooks’ vehicle, Sharon Nunemaker, 70, Elkhart, complained of pain in her chest, left shoulder and abdomen. Brooks’ vehicle struck the back of the Klaff vehicle.
Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
9:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, East CR 700N and North CR 200E, Leesburg. Drivers: Joshua D. Dentzer, 42, East SR 205, Columbia City, and Mark R. Aker, 44, North Kalorama Road, Leesburg. Dentzer failed to see the Aker vehicle before entering the intersection. Aker complained of pain to his back and was going to seek medical attention if the pain continued. Damage up to $25,000.
6:33 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, North SR 15, north of West CR 600N, Leesburg. Drivers: Silas H. Miller, 18, South CR 750W, Pendleton, and Branda R. Eppenbaugh, 24, West Center Street, Warsaw. Witnesses stated Miller’s vehicle was going off and back on the roadway before it went left of center, hitting the Eppenbaugh vehicle. Miller’s truck continued, after impact, off the roadway and hit a utility pole. Miller stated he fell asleep. Eppenbaugh complained of pain but would seek medical treatment on her own. Damage up to $10,000.
2:05 a.m. Saturday, May 9, East CR 1300N, east of Warner Road, Syracuse. Driver: Dylan R. DeSomer, 21, EMS B35 Lane, Warsaw. DeSommer fell asleep while driving causing his vehicle to go off the road and hit a pole. Damage up to $5,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:53 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, South Main Street, North Webster. Driver: Payton T. Watzke, 29, EMS T9 Lane, Leesburg. Watzke went to go around a parked vehicle at the gas pumps, registered to Samuel M. Rapp, South CR 200W, Pierceton, when his vehicle struck a pallet of salt bags. The vehicle went up on the bags and sideswipe Rapp’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
12:57 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, Lake City Highway, east of Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Curtis L. Elias, 77, East 86th Street, Chicago, Ill., and Monty L. McWilliams, 56, Binford Lane, Fort Wayne. Elias’ vehicle struck the back of the McWilliams vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
8:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, East Winona Avenue, west of South High Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Richard Allen Hardman, 49, South M37 Highway, Dowling, Mich., and Keith D. Kaiser, 77, East Third B Road, Bremen. Hardman, operating a garbage truck, turned his vehicle wide to make a turn into an alley when he saw Kaiser’s vehicle attempting to pass the truck. Hardman applied the brakes causing Kaiser’s vehicle to bump into one of the rear driver’s side tires. Damage up to $2,500.
8:22 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, North Parker Street and Husky Trail, Warsaw. Drivers: Joshua M. Patton, 33, West Lakeside Drive, North Manchester, and Michael D. Reinholt, 25, East CR 75N, Warsaw. Both drivers proceeded through the intersection at the same time. Damage up to $10,000.
