Law Enforcement In Action Day May 30
Law Enforcement In Action Day 2015, for children and their families, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 30, at Pike Lake Beach. The event is sponsored by Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club and the City of Warsaw Police Department.
Events for the day will include:
Police vehicles on display from 9 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. See the SWAT bus, SWAT humvee, dive team van, rescue one boat, Harley Davidson police motorcycle, patrol cars and patrol bikes.
The Warsaw Dive Team will have a mock drowning from 9:40 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. Watch the members of the Warsaw Dive Rescue team respond and deploy the recently acquired rescue one boat into Pike Lake during a 40-minute mock drowning/recover incident.
Warsaw Police Department’s k-9 Mako and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 Rex will be showcasing their many talents from 10:20 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. The demonstrations will include narcotic detection and suspect apprehension techniques.
A taser instructor will conduct a training scenario from 10:50 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., using the taser as a use of force. The instructor will demonstrate the proper deployment of the taser and explain how the device works.
SWAT members will deploy a distraction device and demonstrate the use of a less lethal device between 11:15 a.m. and 11:35 a.m.
Children will have a chance to sit inside a police vehicle and handle police equipment from 11:35 a.m. to noon.
