Triton Sports Wrap – May 18
The Triton girls tennis team wrapped up an outstanding regular season with another win Monday evening.
The Trojans topped host Peru 3-2 to improve to 12-1 on the season.
The two teams, after a rain delay, opted to play a super tie breaker for the third set.
Shayla May collected the final point of the match to give her Triton team the win. May posted a 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 win at No. 2 singles for the Trojans.
Kaelyn Mason continued her outstanding season at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win.
Triton, which won the NSC Tournament title on Saturday, also got a 6-3, 6-2 victory from its duo of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross at No. 2 doubles.
Quinn Downing dropped her match at No. 3 singles for the Trojans and the team of Kylie and Kolbie Mason lost in three sets at No. 1 doubles.
Triton won the junior varsity action 4-2.
Triton will play LaVille Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the opening match of the Bremen Sectional.
Trojans Roll To Baseball Win
The Triton baseball team rolled past Culver 12-1 in five innings.
The host Trojans scored four runs in the first, third and fourth innings to claim the Northern State Conference victory.
Landon Kaufman led the way for Triton with three hits, including a double, to go with three RBI.
Nate Flenar had three RBI for the Trojans in the league win.
Schüler Reichert had a double and drove in a pair of runs. He also earned the pitching win with a four-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts.
Triton will play at New Prairie on Wednesday evening.
