Sentencings
The following persons were recently sentenced in a Kosciusko County Court to serve jail time:
May 23
- Whitney Lee Patterson, 28, 804 N. Mill St., Syracuse, sentenced for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. On May 14, she was sentenced to six days to the county jail to begin May 23.
May 22
- Jeffrey Howard Gaerte, 48, 32 EMS W25 Lane, North Webster, sentenced for OWI. On May 11 he was sentenced to six days in the county jail starting May 22.
- Zachariah Freedom Burk, 33, 201 E. Harrison Street, Claypool, sentenced for dealing marijuana, 30 grams to 10 pounds. He was sentenced on May 11 to 1 1/2 years to the Indiana Department of Corrections, with the sentenced suspended and placed on probation. However, he wa ordered to serve 72 straight hours in the county jail starting May 22.
- Lon Dale White, 55, 209 E Baltimore Street, Syracuse, sentence for possession of paraphernalia and OWI. On May 15, he was sentenced to 365 days jail with 359 days suspended and placed on formal probation for one year. He was ordered to serve the balance of his sentence starting May 22 and 14 straight days in the jail over his employment shut down dates during the 2015-2016 Christmas and New Year holidays, and his driver’s license suspended for 90 days.
- Aaron Michael McKibben, 25, 207 E. Williams St., Milford, sentenced for OWi. On May 1, he was sentenced to 60 days with 54 days suspended, with the balance of the sentenced to be served starting May 22.
May 21
- Braxton Neil Baber, 23, 410 E. Winona Avenue, Warsaw, sentenced on two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. On May 21, he was sentenced to 18 months in the county jail, with 16 months suspended and the remaining time served in in the county jail. The court had no objection to his participation in the work release program if approved. His driver’s license was suspended for one year, retroactive to Oct. 30, 2014.
- Donald Lee Butts, 80, 2131 Red Squirrel Court, Warsaw, sentenced for battery. On Nov. 13, 2014, he was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 174 days suspended and placed on probation to be served at the beginning of his sentence. He was ordered to serve six days in jail, but the order was changed on Dec. 8, to execute the remaining 23 hours in jail at the end of his probation.
May 19
- Joyce Nicole Wiseman, 31, 3424 Northside Boulevard, South Bend, sentenced for probation violation. On May 19 she was sentenced to serve 365 in jail for violation of probation and received one day good time credit for each day served for this violation only.
May 7
- Richard Dean Hyde, 42, 1829 Cambridge Drive, Warsaw, sentenced for resisting law enforcement, and operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08 or more. On April 9, he was sentenced to 60 days, with all but 12 days suspended and placed on probation for one year. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days retroactive for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. On the resisting law enforcement charge he was sentenced to 365 days with all but 12 days suspended. He was ordered to report to the county jail on May 7 to serve his sentence.
