Sectional Preview Goes To City
SYRACUSE – In a matchup of contenders in next week’s Warsaw Boys Golf Sectional, Columbia City showed it was primed and ready with a 153-154 win Thursday against Wawasee at South Shore Golf Club.
In an instance where low scores were the norm, City managed the one-stroke win with a consistent effort from its top four. Spencer Klimek paced the Eagles with a 36 while Tyler Green and Spencer Slavich each posted 38s. Max Dryer’s 41 became the key score.
Wawasee had the round of the day, and possibly the round of the season from Tristen Atwood, who fired a 34 to lead the field. Kaleb Perry turned in a 38 in one of his finer rounds. Wawasee had three 41s to choose from by Cal Heinisch, Jeffrey Moore and Cameron Adams, but needed one of those to be a 40 to equal City’s output.
Columbia City also had a 42 from Cameron Slavich and 50 from Lawson Hahn.
Wawasee had Mason Germonprez turn in a 43 to round out the varsity scores.
The Columbia City JV fired a 175 to best Wawasee’s 202.
Wawasee completes its regular season 12-5 overall and will join Columbia City and 12 other teams at Rozella Ford Golf Course Friday, June 5, for the Warsaw Sectional.
