Webster Chamber Surveys Members
Members present at the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce meeting Monday, June 8, took a survey about how the chamber could better serve them. The survey will also be posted on the chamber’s Facebook page and website, www.northwebster.com, for others who wish to take it. The meeting was held at the North Webster American Legion Post 253. The survey will be used to compile information for the chamber’s use in serving local businesses and organizations.
President Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations, announced WNIT-South Bend, the local PBS station, is considering featuring North Webster in its “Our Hometown” series. More information will be available as plans are firmed up. WNIT is making a year long documentary about Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation as well.
Dixie Day volunteers are still needed for two hour shifts at the chamber booth. Contact Karilyn Metcalf, Dixie Sternwheeler Inc., to assist. Dixie Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 25, and celebrates the Dixie tour boat with festivities throughout town. The booth is on Pilcher Shoes lawn in downtown. The 5K Fun Run Walk and Dixie Day Auto, Truck and Motorcycle show have enough volunteers at present.
Ward also congratulated Guy’s Lawn Care as being the chamber’s June member of the month and reminded the membership the chamber is still collecting used shoes as a fundraising project. Shoes can be dropped off at boxes at the chamber office in the Tippecanoe Township Building, North Webster Community Center and the North Webster American Legion.
Ben Ashpole, Updenity Inc., led the leadership roundtable discussing advertising and business start-ups. Many agreed local banks are a good place to start gathering information. Some storefronts are still available in North Webster that would be potential locations for new businesses and they would be welcomed to the community.
Webster Lake Conservation Association representative Ron Erb invited chamber members to the pitch-in brunch and Dixie boat ride 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20. Bring a dish to share and enjoy a tour of Webster Lake. He also stated the WLCA fireworks show will be held Friday, July 3, a change from past years.
The next general meeting of the chamber will be noon Monday, July 13, at the North Webster American Legion Post 253.
