Thomas J. Shanks
Thomas J. Shanks 79, Rochester, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday June 16, 2015, at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1936 in Cass County, the son of Willard and Anna (Reno) Shanks. On Sept. 3, 1953 in Lucerne, he married Olive M. Lunsford and she survives.
Mr. Shanks had worked in construction for over forty five years with McMahon-O’Connor and for E and B Paving. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool and riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife: Olive M. Shanks, Rochester; daughters: Pam (Steve) Baldwin, Kewanna; Kathy (Tom Brown) Dunwoody, Logansport; Laurie (Matt) Cox, Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sons: Randy Alan Shanks; and Tom Shanks; parents: two brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may visit from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will take place at a later date at Fulton Cemetery, Fulton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
