Harold Gene Hamilton
Harold Gene Hamilton, 66, Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away Friday, June 19 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.
Born on Sept. 29, 1948, in Newport, Ark., Harold Gene was the treasured son of Harold Ivan and Maxine Worsham Hamilton. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister Patricia and a brother Charles. When he was two his family moved from Arkansas to Bremen. With great Lancer pride, Harold graduated with the first class to graduate from LaVille High School in 1966.
Following high school patriotism beckoned, Harold answered the call serving our country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
In Plymouth on July 20, 1970, Harold married the love of his life and best friend Delores Fleck Hamilton. Together they shared nearly 45 years of life’s adventures. From their union came three wonderful children: Christine, Rebecca and Adam. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of eight grandchildren.
He was nearly a lifetime resident of Marshall County moving to Rochester about three years ago.
Left to cherish Harold’s memory are his loving wife; two daughters: Christine Hamilton, Denver, Colo., and Rebecca Hassenplug and husband Brad, Kewanna; son: Adam Hamilton and wife Marsha, Mishawaka; eight grandchildren: Tyler Foote, Denver Foote, Jordan Hollar, Dylan Hollar, Melanie Hollar, Ethan Hassenplug, Eli Hamilton, Evan Hamilton; and a brother: Charles Hamilton, Rochester.
Preceding him In death are his parents, and a sister, Patricia Maenhout.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 22 and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23. A celebration of life will follow at 10 a.m Tuesday, June 23. Pastor Jim Dillinger will officiate services. Burial will follow at the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. Military rites will be accorded by the Fulton County Military Honor Guard and the US Army Honor’s Team, at the funeral home.
