All of the rain recently has caused quite a few problems across the state of Indiana, including several areas experiencing severe flooding.
There are three rivers that come together in downtown Fort Wayne, the Maumee River, the St. Joseph River and the St. Marys River. Flooding across the city necessitated the closing of streets and parks, including Foster, Franke, Swinney and Lawton parks.
A drone video, created by Keen Aerial Productions, shows the extent of the flooding around some of the Three Rivers area in Fort Wayne.
According to city spokesperson Frank Suarez, the flooding in the parks shouldn’t be too surprising, as they were designed for the purpose of holding water overflow. The parks were built on flood plains.
As of Sunday, June 21, water levels had begun to recede from their highest points on the rivers. However, with more rain in the forecast tonight and later in the week, flooding may continue to be an issue.
