Larry F. Koontz
Larry F. Koontz, 70, of West Union, West Virginia formerly of Bourbon, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015, at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born April 26, 1945, in Plymouth, the son of Paul and Mary (Snearly) Koontz. Larry was a 1963 graduate of Tippecanoe/Triton High School. He was a lifetime area resident until he moved in 2003 to North Carolina where he worked at a Christian Retreat Camp.
Larry married the love his life, Gracie Jenkinson, on Nov. 2, 1963, and she survives. Larry was a retired farmer and was a dedicated Christian always wanting to spread the gospel through his work. He was a faithful member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church, West Union, W.Va.
In addition to his wife: Gracie; he is survived by ten children: Brian (Kathy) Koontz, Bourbon; Brenda (Mark) Daily, Bremen; Lora Koontz, Fort Wayne; Teresa (Todd) Kauffman, Rochester; Rich (Tera) Koontz, Bristol; Eric Koontz, Mount Hood, Oregon; Wesley Koontz, Rochester; Rita (Craig) Haecker, North Manchester; Joe Koontz, Madison; Solomon Koontz, West Union, W. Va. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Phyllus (Jack) Egolf, Cheswold, Del.; and Sue (Bill) Elliott, Argos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Ronald Koontz, on April 30, 2001, and a grandchild: Zoe Haecker.
You are invited from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 26, to celebrate Larry’s life with family and friends in The Country Church, Bourbon.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with Pastor Ed Decker, Pastor Joey Watt and Dr. Randy Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in the Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon.
The family requests memorial contributions in his memory to Mt. Salem Revival Grounds, West Union, W. Va.
