Rebecca ‘Becky’ Joan Moody
God called your name so gently
That only you could hear,
No one heard the footsteps
of the Angel drawing near.
Softly from the shadows
There came a gentle call,
you closed your eyes and went to sleep
and quietly left us all.
Rebecca Joan “Becky” Moody, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at her residence in Granger after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 22, 1954, in Elkhart, to Paul and Evelyn (Roose) Abel.
Becky lived most of her life in Wakarusa. She married Johnnie Moody Jr. Oct. 9, 1999, in Mishawaka.
Becky was a 1972 graduate of NorthWood High School and had attended Ft. Wayne Business College.
She was a medical receptionist, first at Wakarusa Medical Clinic and then several other medical offices. She had last worked at IMA at St. Joseph Medical Center. Becky was a fun loving person and enjoyed being with her friends and family. She was an avid Notre Dame fan.
Becky is survived by her husband: Johnnie; brothers: Rick (Gail) Abel, Wakarusa; Steve Abel, Syracuse; stepsister: Darlene Slyford, Fla.; stepson: Joseph Colander, Baltimore, Md.; several nieces and nephews; and sister and brother-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Don Abel; sister-in-law: Barb Abel; and stepmother: Vera Abel.
Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa, and for one hour prior to the funeral service which will be at noon Saturday, June 27, at the funeral home. Her stepson, Bishop Joseph Colander will officiate and burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
Her husband, Johnnie would like to thank Becky’s friends and caregivers for their care and support during her illness.
