SPA Women’s Home Ministries Hosting Annual 5K
ELKHART – There will be plenty of walking, running, and even dancing at SPA Women’s Ministry Homes’ ninth annual 5K Walk “the Walk” & Run Saturday, Aug. 29. Enjoy a leisurely walk with family and friends or lace up and join a timed run for those working to set a new personal best.
Participants will follow a scenic route that winds around Island Park and Elkhart’s river walk and is accommodating to people of all ages, including strollers and family pets.
Walk “the Walk” & Run presents a wonderful opportunity for men, women, and children to join a community of people who support SPA’s Christ-centered mission and who seek ways to “walk the walk” in their daily lives. As the only residential treatment provider in Elkhart County for women experiencing life-controlling issues such as substance abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault, SPA is an important ministry to the community it serves.
Funds raised will be used to sponsor women through six months of Christ-centered residential treatment, six months of transitional housing and aftercare services. Services include, but are not limited to, room and board, counseling, recovery groups, life skills training, discipleship classes and financial case management.
Hearts and lives are being transformed, families are being restored, and hope in a better tomorrow is being renewed.
As a timed run, seasoned runners battle it out to the end racing for the chance to win grand prizes, compliments of SPA’s sponsors. This event also includes music, activities, refreshments and an opportunity to purchase event T-shirts. Registration fee is $15.
Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. Runners step off at 8:30 a.m. and walkers step off at 9 a.m. To pre-register, go to www.spaministryhomes.org or call Carrie Zickefoose, executive director, at (574) 333-3150 by Aug. 4 for the best deals.
