Have fun learning to paint at the library’s Coffee and Canvas event 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 Tuesday, July 14. Folk artist Karla Hayden, owner of The Happy Paint Brush, will show participants step-by-step how to paint a lake scene. No artistic ability is needed, just a willingness to have fun.
The cost is $18 and includes 11 by 14 canvas, painting supplies, coffee, and refreshments. Pre-registration with payment is required by July 11 to participate. Those interested can sign up at the Circulation Desk. The class is for adults only.
If you are interested in gardening and cooking, you won’t want to miss the Hooked on Herbs Class 10:30 p.m., Saturday, July 18. The Herb Lady, Janette Stackhouse, returns for the second installment of this popular class series. In this class, she will focus on how to harvest, preserve, and use fresh herbs. She will explain how to pair certain herbs and foods together to achieve the best flavor and share recipes, cooking techniques, and food samples. The class is open to everyone with no pre-registration needed.
Earlier in the day Saturday, July 18, the North Webster Hiking Club will hike the Syracuse Loop of the Syracuse-Wawasee Trail System. The group meets 8:30 a.m. in the library parking lot to form a carpool and travel to Syracuse to start the hike. Adults of all ages who enjoy walking and the outdoors are invited to join us on this scenic hike.
The kids will learn about “Unlikely Heroes from Around the World” when professional storyteller Carol Knarr Gebert performs 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. Her stories are filled with dramatic creativity and audience participation that bring the characters to life. This is a Summer Reading Program event; although, all children are welcome to attend.
Youth in grades 6-12 will meet for a game of Corn Hole on the library lawn 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, along with plenty of cold sodas. Teen Time is held the third Thursday each month for middle school and high school youth with a variety of fun activities.
Make It/Take It Craft Day is planned for Friday, July 17. Crafts will be available throughout the day in the Youth Services Department. Kids of all ages can make their craft at the library or take it home to complete.
