Every Day Is Special At Kosciusko County 4-H Fair
Most of the seven days of the fair have a special daily theme, oriented toward one segment or another of the Kosciusko County family the fair welcomes and encourages to participate.
Sunday, July 12, is family day. That’s also the only day of free admission, so take advantage and soak up all the Kosciusko County 4-H Fair has to offer. As if that weren’t enough, on Sunday the community fair parade takes place, so it should be a great day everyone, both young and old, will enjoy.
The official opening day of the fair is Monday, July 13: That day is sponsored by Goshen College.
Tuesday, July 14, is Kiddies Day and 4-H Leader Appreciation Day, both of which are sponsored by Kosciusko REMC. All of the county’s dedicated 4-H volunteers are asked to register when they arrive on the fairgrounds, and anyone presenting a Touchstone Energy card will receive $1 off regular gate admission price.
A slew of special activities will keep the little ones entertained for hours. Among these are a Science Central show, a Lake City Bank coin hunt, Lowe’s Build and Grow Clinic, snacks and drinks with costumed characters and special pricing on all the midway rides. Don’t miss the sanctioned kiddie tractor pull at 6 p.m., sponsored by Kosciusko County Farm Bureau.
Wednesday, July 15, is Senior Day and Community Day, both sponsored by Symmetry Medical. In honor of Community Day booths will be set up along the midway, offering information about local nonprofit organizations from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.; several heritage art demonstrations will also take place.
For seniors, free blood pressure checks will be performed and special entertainment takes place on the Event Center stage. A free breakfast will start the day at 8 a.m., and a free ice cream social will begin at 1 p.m. At the gate, visitors age 65 and older will pay an admission fee of only $1.
On Thursday, July 16, Polk Tractor Equipment will sponsor Farmer’s Day, Trucker’s Day and Scout Day. Each of these groups are particularly welcome, and until 6:30 p.m. there will be no admission charge for Scouts who attend in a class A uniform.
Sponsorship and Media Day is Friday, July 17, sponsored by G & G Hauling Inc.: and Saturday, July 18, the last day of the fair, events will be presented courtesy of Louis Dreyfus.
