Techno-Glo 5K Set To Light Up Winona Lake
WINONA LAKE – As the days will begin to become shorter as September unfolds, at least one night will be glowing neon in Winona Lake.
Friday, Sept. 18, the trail system of Winona Lake will be glowing bright with color as the first-ever Techno-Glo 5K will take place. The race starts at 7:15 p.m. at Winona Lake Park and will wind through the Winona Lake Trails in an event that will help raise money for the Humanity & Hope United Foundation. The organization is giving all proceeds from the race to agricultural projects in rural Honduras to benefit those living in impoverished villages.
Cost is $20 to pre-register and $25 on race day. T-Shirts are only guaranteed for pre-registered participants and first come, first serve on the race day. Pre-registering can be done with Runsignup.com
Race day registrations will begin at 5:30 p.m. outside of the Winona Lake Senior Center and will end at 7 p.m. The race will be overseen by the Kosciusko Runners Association.
For the Techno-Glo portion, a DJ will play techno music throughout the course to provide an exciting race experience. Several forms of glow materials (glow sticks, glow paint, etc.) will be handed out to add to the theme. Additional glow paraphernalia is highly encouraged. Glow-in-the-dark shirts will be used, as well as several black lights/strobe lights will be placed throughout the course.
Some food and beverages will be provided for all event participants. Feel free to stick around for continued music and fun, and of course the announcement of race winners from various age groups.
