Mentone Teams Heading To State
MENTONE – The young sluggers from Mentone’s youth leagues are headed to the Town & Country state tournament.
At the semi-state championship games Monday night, the 8U Mudhens were down 9-4 going into the bottom of last inning. Unphased, the Mudhens scored six runs in its last at-bat to win the game, 10-9, against Plymouth and clinched the semi-state title. The Mudhens will begin Town & Country state tournament 7:45 p.m. Friday night in Rochester.
The 10U Mudhens were involved in a semi-state doubleheader Monday night. In the first game against Bremen, Mudhens clinched their spot into championship game with a winning score of 10-5. In game two, rival Plymouth were able to trump Mentone for the title. Finishing in second place still allowed Mentone a berth in the state tournament. The Mudhens will begin the Town & Country state tournament 6 p.m. Thursday night in Monticello.
