Dixie Days Brings Crowds To North Webster
NORTH WEBSTER — Hot temperatures and crowded sidewalks were the most common elements during this year’s Dixie Day. The festival celebrated its seventh year taking place on Saturday, July 25.
The festival officially started at 8 a.m. with the Dixie Run. The 5K walk/run started at the North Webster Community Center. The race ended at the Dixie Landing with awards being given out directly afterward.
All day long downtown North Webster was the place to be with food vendors, an open air market and an art fair. Forty different artists displayed their best works as guests enjoyed shopping for everything from jewelry to homemade decor.
The Mermaid Festival Grounds were a sight to see with the annual car, truck and bike show. Inside the west barn there was also a vintage snowmobile show. Winners of this year’s car show were announced around 3 p.m. on Saturday. There were many different awards and categories for the array of vehicles.
The big award of this year’s car show was The Best of Show Award. Dave Granger took home the $500 prize along with a new trophy for his 1957 Corvette Convertible.
Many other events took place during Dixie Day including a Friends of the Library book sale, antique sales, Sixie games and of course cruises on the Dixie Boat.
