Letter To The Editor
Dear editor,
As our students and teachers return to school in the next few weeks, many will return to hallways, cafeterias, gymnasiums, classrooms and outside areas with freshly painted walls, curbs, posts etc.
United Way of Kosciusko County and over 600 volunteers who participated in the Day of Action impacted twelve schools in our county.
Fourteen companies sent volunteers. We thank United Way of Kosciusko County, the volunteers and companies for participating.
School corporations usually have people from within paint or they contract with a company. United Way of Kosciusko County, through Day of Action, supplied 450 gallons of paint and supplies, around $15,000 worth of materials.
For Tippecanoe Valley, Warsaw and Wawasee school corporations, the volunteers supplied approximately $105,000 worth of hard work, the approximate cost of labor for contracting with an outside company. This allowed us to have some areas painted that greatly needed the fresh coat of paint and may have taken several years before we were able to get to those areas.
We appreciate your volunteering and hard work and know our students and teachers will appreciate the “like new” areas.
Sincerely,
Brett Boggs, Superintendent, Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation; Dr. David Hoffert, Superintendent, Warsaw Community School Corporation; and Dr. Tom Edington, Superintendent, Wawasee Community School Corporation.
