Drowning Confirmed On Little Chapman Lake
WARSAW — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a death that occurred on Little Chapman Lake.
Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, Indiana Conservation Officers responded to a person unresponsive in the water on Little Chapman Lake. Initial reports indicate that an adult male was swimming from a boat with a family member. The family member noticed that the male had become unconscious in the water. She attempted to pull him back into the boat but was unable to.
Some good Samaritans were able to get the female into their boat but could not get the male out of the water. An off-duty Kosciusko County Police Officer arrived in his own boat and was able to get the unresponsive male out of the water. The off duty officer began CPR and got the victim to shore. CPR was continued until EMS personnel arrived and took over.
Despite their best efforts police and EMS were unable to resuscitate the victim. The Kosciusko County Coroner pronounced him dead on the scene. Indiana Conservation Officers are continuing to investigate this incident. The name of the victim is being withheld until family members can be notified.
