South Bend Airport Accepting Bids For Federal Inspection Facility Project
SOUTH BEND — The South Bend International Airport is accepting contractor bids on a project to build a federal inspection facility on its grounds. The contract is expected to be awarded sometime in September.
“The federal inspection station is what is needed for U.S. Customs and Border agents to be here to be able to clear folks that will arrive on an international commercial aircraft,” said Julie Curtis, South Bend International Airport.
The project is another step toward the airport being recognized as a major international facility. Once the work has begun on the construction project, it should take approximately one year to complete.
