Wawasee, NorthWood Golf In Preseason Poll
The Wawasee and NorthWood girls golf teams each received honorable mention status in the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association Preseason Poll for the 2015 season.
The Warriors shared the overall Northern Lakes Conference championship with NorthWood last fall. Wawasee was second in the sectional and third in the regional before placing 14th at the State Finals in its first trip there since 1986. The Warriors were 17-1 last year and were slated to return five of the six players who played at State in 2014.
NorthWood finished 11-0 overall and 7-0 in the NLC last season to win at least a share of the league title for third third straight year. The Panthers then won the program’s first-ever sectional championship. NorthWood returns five letter winners for this campaign.
Evansville North sits at No. 1 in the preseason poll from the IHSGCA. Westfield is No. 2, followed by Hamilton Southeastern, Martinsville, Columbus North, Lake Central, Evansville Memorial, Crown Point, Carmel and Chesterton in the top 10. Center Grove is No. 11, followed by Bloomington South, Fishers, Cathedral, New Palestine, Zionsville, Noblesville, Leo, Plainfield, Brownburg and Vincennes Rivet.
Wawasee and NorthWood, along with Penn, highlight the honorable mention teams. Also receiving honorable mention were East Noble, Carroll (Fort Wayne), Fort Wayne Dwenger, Greensburg, Lafayette Jeff, Munster, New Albany, Roncalli, Valparaiso and Western.
