Crossing Closures Will Affect Bus Routes
SYRACUSE — CSX Railroad crossing closures at Bishop Road and East Wawasee Drive near Syracuse will affect bus routes at least for a couple of days for the Wawasee Community School Corp.
According to information provided by the school corporation, the railroad crossings will be closed by CSX for repairs Aug. 5-12. The first day of school for Wawasee is Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Students attending Wawasee High School, Wawasee Middle School, Milford School and Syracuse Elementary School will be impacted the most by the closures. “Normally, bus routes run longer the first few days when school opens, these closures will add additional times to those routes,” said Bob Lahrman, coordinator of support services for the school corporation. “Please work with us as you have in the past, since this is not the first time we have had railroad crossing closures at the beginning of school. If during this time a scheduled bus has not arrived for pickup or delivery of students, please contact your school for assistance.”
Bus routes affected include numbers 31, 40 and 42 for Wawasee High School and Middle School, number 6 for Milford School and numbers 32, 33 and 38 for Syracuse Elementary. The closures may or may not affect bus number 1, which provides service for Wawasee High School, Wawasee Middle School, Syracuse Elementary and North Webster Elementary.
