TinCaps Road Win Streak Ends At Seven
BURLINGTON, Iowa – The TinCaps’ seven-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night with a 5-0 loss to the Burlington Bees at Community Field. Burlington returned the favor after Fort Wayne won in shutout fashion, 4-0, on Tuesday.
All five Bees runs were scored with two outs between the second and fourth innings. Over those three frames, Burlington (15-24, 50-58) totaled all 10 of its hits in the game — eight of them coming with two outs — including Trever Allen’s RBI single in the second that made it 1-0. Nine of the Bees’ hits were singles.
Fort Wayne (23-16, 55-52) starter Travis Radke took the loss even though he wasn’t hit very hard over his four innings of work. The lefty Radke (L, 1-1) struck out five. Nick Monroe followed with three no-hit innings out of the bullpen and Kyle McGrath turned in a perfect inning as well.
Offensively, the TinCaps couldn’t figure out right-hander Justin Anderson (W, 7-8), who went 7 2/3 and allowed only four hits and a walk.
The rubber match of this three-game set is Thursday at 7:30. Fort Wayne will start left-hander Thomas Dorminy (8-7, 3.39) against Burlington righty Austin Robichaux (8-5, 3.57). The game can be heard on ESPN Radio 1380, TinCaps.com, and the TuneIn Radio app.
