Commissioners Expedite North Central Co-Op Fiber Optic Plan
KOSCIUSKO — A short meeting was held at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the Kosciusko County Courthouse, wherein the county commissioners voted to expedite a plan to partner with North Central Co-op in order to install fiber optics at their facility in Mentone.
The Indiana Fiber Network will be working on the project, and has quoted the price at around $75,000. The county will be advancing funds on a TIF bond to fund the project, but the commissioners assured that the county would be reimbursed by the TIF bond in one to two months.
Though bids were solicited from two vendors, Miner noted only Fiber Network responded to the bid request.
The special meeting was held in order to get the process started even sooner. According to Miner, the timing of the TIF bonds was the motivation to expedite the process and settle.
