Phillip Briar Nicklaus
Phillip Briar Nicklaus 24, Rochester, passed away early Saturday morning August 8, 2015 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Briar was born on June 5, 1991, in Logansport, the son of Phil and Elizabeth (Kerr) Nicklaus. He was a 2010 graduate of Rochester High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a corporal in the infantry. He had been stationed in Afghanistan as part of the United States global war on terrorism. He was currently serving with the Indiana National Guard.
Briar was employed with Rochester Metals, Rochester, and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycles and collecting guns.
Survivors include his parents: Phil and Elizabeth Nicklaus, Rochester; sister: Brandy (Don) Miller, Knox; grandparents: Marie Nicklaus, Rochester; Jim and Fran Kerr, Rochester; niece and nephew: Aaron and Rebekah Ward, Knox; aunts; uncles; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Floyd Nicklaus.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday August 11, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Tim Rentschler officiating.
