Tigers Off The Pace At Canterbury Invite
FORT WAYNE – A very good field of teams plus a difficult course pushed Warsaw to the back of the pack at Monday’s Fort Wayne Canterbury Invite at Chestnut Hills. Warsaw finished with a 422, 70 strokes off the pace of tournament champion Fort Wayne Dwenger’s 352 winning score.
Warsaw again struggled to get its scores under 100, with all five landing in triple digits. Madi Graham was right at 100 with Warsaw’s top score, followed by Page Desenberg at 105, Morgen Fuentes at 106 and Delaney Wihebrink at 111.
Madison Martz totaled 117, Madelyn Ray had 118 and Izzy Ray shot 132 to complete the Warsaw totals.
Dwenger’s Sarah Frazier led the champions with a 79, with Fort Wayne Carroll shooting a 354 in second place with Kiersten Murphy at the top of the leaderboard with a 73. Casey Bunner of Fort Wayne Blackhawk was second on the individual board at 78.
Canterbury was third at 360 and Snider fourth at 380 in the five-team field.
“Chestnut Hills is a difficult course and the girls made some good improvements throughout the round,” stated Warsaw head coach Tad Nieter. “It was good for the girls to get their skills tested on a top-notch course. We have a nine-day break between tournaments, so we are looking for the time off to practice and make improvements during the stretch.”
Warsaw’s next scheduled event is Aug. 19 against Huntington North at LaFontaine.
