Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:07 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the intersection of West 700S and South 450W, Claypool. Driver: Russell W. Brown, 57, West 950S, Akron. Brown was westbound when he hit a deer. Damage up to $2,500.
6:55 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the intersection of south S.R. 19 and south 900W, Mentone. Driver: Edrian N. Evans, 17, South 1600E, Silver Lake. Evans was southbound and ran off the road, striking a phone box. No injuries were reported. Damage up to $2,500.
6:34 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, North CR 150W, north of North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Lori J. Kammerer, 51, East CR 750N, Leesburg. Hit deer. Damage up to $10,000.
6:04 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, North CR 450E, south of East CR 100N, Warsaw. Driver: Ronald J. Siela, 57, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw. Hit deer. Damage up to $10,000.
7:08 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, East CR 350S, west of South CR 575E, Pierceton. Driver: James H. McCoomb, 56, West CR 100S, Lawrill. McCoomb’s vehicle was towing a trailer, which began to sway, going off the road and pulling the vehicle with it. The trailer struck a utility pole, causing the truck and trailer to stop in a jackknifed position in the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
10:18 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, East CR 500N and North SR 13, North Webster. Drivers: Kristina L. Garman, 30, West CR 225S, Kimmell, and Kurt A. Danner, 59, East Center Street, Bourbon. Garman turned right as the stoplight changed from yellow to red, hitting the Danner vehicle, which was crossing SR 13. Damage up to $2,500.
1:03 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, East CR 900N, Milford. Driver: Paul E. Slusher, 57, South Columbia Street, Warsaw. Slusher was backing his vehicle away from a controlled fire. Smoke from the burn pit was getting into the vehicle obstructing the view of the driver, causing him to back into a parked vehicle registered to Esther M. Fisher, North Kalorama Road, Leesburg. Damage up to $5,000.
4:17 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, West CR 1350N and North SR 15, Milford. Drivers: Cole J. Defries, 21, East Dove Lane, Milford, and Cheryl A. Brandt, 70, Fairlane Drive, Warsaw. Defries struck the back of the Brandt vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
4:04 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, SR 13S and West North Street, Sidney. Drivers: Kathryn B. Hawkins, 59, North CR 300E, North Manchester, and Timothy L. Pratt, 31, East Pearl Street, Syracuse. Hawkins struck the back of the Pratt vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
12:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: David A. Huffman, 59, West Summy Road, Leesburg, and Darrin L. Lincoln, 50, West CR 700N, Leesburg. Huffman backed a county owned vehicle into another county owned vehicle driven by Lincoln. Damage up to $10,000.
7:22 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, East CR 300N, north of North CR 100E, Warsaw. Driver: Chad D. Hill, 47, West CR 700N, Larwill. Hit deer. Damage up to $1,000.
7:03 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, North Koher Road East, north of East Promontory Point Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Timothy J. Collins, 17, EMS W17C Lane, North Webster, and Patricia L. Ebetino, 63, Houk Road, Monroeville. Rosemary K. Ebetino, 90, Houk Road, Monroeville, a passenger in the Patricia Ebetino vehicle complained of pain to the lower leg. She was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Collins lost control of his vehicle on loose gravel while rounding a curve, hitting the Ebetino vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
1:37 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, East Smith Street and North Bay Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Lewis W. Fuller, 33, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw, and Randall S. Hall, 52, Frank Lane, Warsaw. Hall complained of back pain but refused medical treatment. Fuller’s vehicle struck the Hall vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Silver Lake
Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents.
5:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 10378 South S.R. 15, Silver Lake. Driver: Connie S. Swick, 67, East S.R. 14, Silver Lake. According to Swick, while she was pulling into the automatic car wash, her throttle stuck and she went out of the back of the car wash, stricking some of the car wash equipment, then striking a storage unit behind the car wash, damaging two units. The renters of the storage units were contacted. No injuries were reported. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:06 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, South Huntington, south of CR 1300N, Syracuse. Drivers: Nicole A. Miller, 26, Railside Drive, Syracuse, and Max A. Byrket, 59, East CR 1050N, Cromwell. Miller’s vehicle struck the back of the Byrket vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
9:58 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the intersection of North Harrison Street and East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kathleen M. Coverstone, 58, North Prairie Street, Warsaw and Dennis K. Strain, 71, East Wade Road, Warsaw. Coverstone stated she was eastbound on East Center Street and went through the intersection when Strain ran the red light, crossing in front of her. Coverstone’s vehicle hit Strain’s vehicle. Strain stated he was waiting for the light and proceeded when it turned green. Strain said Coverstone ran the red light. No injuries were reported. Coverstone’s vehicle was leaking coolant and Strain’s vehicle had significant damage to the passenger side front door. Damage up to $2,500.
6:22 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, Silveus Crossing south of Executive Drive. Driver: Christopher J. Payne, 26, North Zimmer Road, Warsaw. Payne was in the G&G Hauling entrance when a deer struck the front passenger side of his car. Damage up to $5,000.
6:41 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, North Tamarack Street and east/west alley, Warsaw. Drivers: Jennifer L. Slone, 33, East Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, and Ashlee B. England, 31, East Center Street, Warsaw. Slone was southbound on Tamarack from Main Street, when England drove her vehicle out from an alley. Slone stated she was unaware Tamarack was a one-way street and that she had been traveling the wrong way. Damage up to $5,000.
4:12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, East Center Street, west of East Lake Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Teresa L. Sarber, 57, South Michigan Street, Plymouth, and Lynn R. Stanley, 60, East CR 300S, Columbia City. Stanley complained of a pain to the neck and requested an ambulance. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Sarber was attempting to cross north on East Center Street from a parking lot. Another motorist allowed her to enter the eastbound lane of Center Street, but when she attempted to cross the next eastbound lane, she failed to see the Stanley vehicle, causing the two to collide. Damage up to $25,000.
4:05 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, North Detroit Street, south of Shelden Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Alondra R. Giron, 18, North SR 15, Milford, and Michelle A. Utter, 49, South Country Club Road, Warsaw. Giron’s vehicle struck the back of the Utter vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
3:59 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, North Detroit Street, north of West CR 300N, Warsaw. Drivers: Rebecca L. Nine, 56, West CR 250S, Warsaw; Steven M. Herget, 51, North SR 37, Elwood; Kimberly K. McCord, 29, Krista Lane, Winona Lake; and Jacob DeLong, 23, Pioneer Street, Sturgis, Mich. Nine’s foot slipped off the brake while slowing, hitting the back of the Herget vehicle. The Herget vehicle then struck the back of the McCord vehicle, which struck the back of the DeLong vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
11:03 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the intersection of Administration Blvd. and Park Avenue. Drivers: Dennis D. Schaaf, 61, East Market Street, Warsaw. While northbound on Park Avenue, Schaaf struck a parked vehicle, which bounced back and struck Schaaf’s car. The parked vehicle’s front right tire and strut assembly and axle broke off. Witnesses stated that they saw Schaaf’s vehicle traveling above the speed limit and weaving as if he had lost control. Schaaf stated he thought he lost control but was not speeding or weaving. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued. Damage up to $5,000.
