Dolores E. ‘Dee’ Gerber
Dolores E. “Dee” Gerber, 72, of Syracuse, passed away at 12:06 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born on Feb. 5, 1943, in Goshen, to James Edward and Martha Mildred (Richcreek) Hapner.
She was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and attended Syracuse High School. She was married on June 4, 1960, in Syracuse to Allen R. Gerber who survives. She retired from Oakwood Hotel in Syracuse and formerly worked at the Dixie Restaurant in Syracuse, Essex in Ligonier, Premier Window in Syracuse and G.T.I. in Leesburg.
She was a member of the Syracuse Baptist Church and Eagles Lodge in Syracuse. She formerly attended Solomon Creek United Methodist Church and Peoples Bible Church in Benton.
She is survived by her husband: Allen Gerber, Syracuse; three sons: Ray (Melissa) Gerber, Milford; Rick Gerber, Syracuse; and Ron (Stephanie) Gerber, Syracuse; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jerry (Carolyn) Hapner; Fred (Ann) Hapner; and Joe (JoAnn) Hapner, Syracuse.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Joyce Kitson.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, in the funeral home with Pastor Brent Joy of the church officiating.
