Triton Sports Wrap – Aug. 20
After a tough loss to open the campaign, the Triton volleyball team rebounded with a three-game run over rival Oregon-Davis Thursday night at the Trench.
Triton won the contest 25-16, 25-22, 28-26 as attrition became a factor as the two carried on.
Triton had a huge night from Jaela Meister, who led the club with 13 kills and three aces and also chipped in six digs. Nicole Sechrist had 12 digs and six kills.
Quinn Downing picked up her game with 14 digs from the back row and Hannah Wanemacher made 15 helpers count against the Bobcats.
Triton evens its record at 1-1 on the year and will visit coach Samantha Willsey’s alma mater, Bremen, Tuesday.
Zebras Outlast Trojan Tennis
Triton put up a good fight, but Rochester had the right combinations Thursday to claim a 4-1 boys tennis win in Bourbon.
Mace Eads had the lone court win for the Trojans, winning a marathon match with Justin Phoun 3-6, 7-6(2), 10-7 at two singles.
One singles was just as wild, with Jackson Sawyer needing three sets to defeat Gavin Eads 1-6, 7-6(3), 10-8.
Rochester won the remaining three courts in straight sets. Zac Dishon took care of the three singles court with a three and three final on Aaron Stichter.
At No. 1 doubles, Ean Pugh and Austin Utter defeated Dalton Bailey and Chase Butler two and three and Lorenzo Modiano and Carlton Mullet claimed victory over Keygan Moiser and Brenden Damron three and one.
Triton falls to 0-2 overall while Rochester moves to 1-0. The Trojans will next play Saturday at the Marian Invitational in Mishawaka.
