UPDATE: Car Vs Semi On US 6, One Injured
UPDATE: SYRACUSE — Alexander Herrin, 25, LaGrange, was taken to IU Health Goshen for non-life threatening injuries following this morning’s accident, Friday, Aug. 28. The accident was at 6:48 a.m. on US 6, east of CR 133, north of Syracuse.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department reports Herrin was traveling west on US 6, in his 2009 Ford Fusion, at what police state was too close of a distance behind a 2007 Freighliner. Herrin’s vehicle struck the back of the semi when it slowed for a school bus, in the eastbound lane, that had its stop arms out. The semi was driven by Abdisalan Yusuf, 41, Columbus, Ohio. He was not injured.
Herrin was cited for following too closely.
SYRACUSE — The driver of a small passenger car has been transported to IU Health Goshen this morning, Friday, Aug. 28, after colliding with the rear end of a semi truck. The accident occurred at approximately 6:54 a.m. on US 6, between CR 133 and CR 35.
The driver of the semi is uninjured.
Traffic on US 6 is backed up at this time and it is recommended drivers avoid the area if possible.
Benton Township Fire Department and Turkey Creek/Syracuse EMS assisted at the scene, along with Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
